Overview

Waffle House - Staunton stands as a welcoming beacon for those seeking a classic American breakfast experience in the heart of Virginia. Located conveniently at 103 Crossing Way near the I-81 corridor, this branch offers a clean and spacious environment that appeals to families, commuters, and locals alike. The restaurant’s layout encourages a relaxed dining atmosphere, reflecting the brand’s commitment to comfort and familiarity.

Known for its iconic breakfast offerings, Waffle House - Staunton highlights dishes that satisfy both traditional and adventurous palates. The Cheese N' Eggs with Raisin Toast offers a nostalgic start to the day, while the Pecan Waffle, often lauded by regulars for its nutty sweetness, stands out as a signature item. Lunch and dinner options like the Texas Patty Melt and the Angus 1/4lb Hamburger Deluxe demonstrate versatility beyond mornings. The patty melt, paired with crispy hashbrowns, evokes a hearty, diner-style meal, appreciated for its balance of grilled onions and melted American cheese on buttered Texas toast.

Side dishes enrich the menu with variety and substance—a thick USDA Choice T-Bone steak, grilled chicken breast, and classic sides such as Bert's famous chili and bowls of grits cater to those looking for an elevated comfort food experience. Biscuit fans find plenty to like, from sausage and bacon biscuits to the fulfilling country ham biscuits, each fresh from the grill and paired with quality meats.

Customer feedback paints a picture of a reliable and friendly service atmosphere, albeit with the occasional hiccup common in busy kitchens. Staff members, notably experienced servers, often receive praise for their efficiency and upbeat demeanor, even when the restaurant is buzzing with activity. Reviewing common experiences, guests note that the hashbrowns—especially when customized with additions like onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, ham, and mushrooms—are consistently well-prepared and flavorful. While some menu descriptions are minimal, the straightforward nature of the food reduces complexity, encouraging familiarity and ease in ordering.

The restaurant’s physical presence blends seamlessly into the Staunton landscape, although the sign’s height restriction presents a minor navigational challenge. Positioned next to a large 7-Eleven fuel station, it remains an easily referenceable landmark. This adaptability to local regulations speaks to the brand's resilience and thoughtful integration within the community.

Waffle House - Staunton caters primarily to early risers, road travelers, and breakfast enthusiasts seeking dependable meals without pretense. Its balance of traditional Southern comfort food and accessible lunch options ensures a broad appeal. Whether enjoying an early morning Cheese N' Eggs combo or a midday Texas Patty Melt, visitors can expect a straightforward, hearty meal served with genuine hospitality.

With many franchises around the south, the company strives for common experience. With people involved, there is necessarily variation, and today was a good day. Beth, an “experienced” waitress, quiet and efficient, took our drink orders. We asked for hot tea, and she quickly set down two mugs of coffee. We had a good laugh over that, people being creatures of habit, of course the hot water mugs were provided with tea bags. The waffle was a tad under done, still better than 95% of the cardboard folks serve for waffles in most places. We ordered hash browns with onions, tomatoes, Jalapeno peppers, ham, and mushrooms, and they served the items as available, hot off the grill. A bit of home away from home, or the home you wish you had. One little quirk with the menu, is listed prices include tax, so what you see is what you get. And a note about this particular Waffle House - there is an inappropriate (my judgement, yes) ordinance in Staunton limiting sign height, so we had a challenge finding the Waffle House when we first went there. They are right next to the large 7-Eleven fuel station, for a land mark. It’s the first right turn on 250 West just off I-81. Highly recommend.

First waffle house experience. Got super busy at 9am on a Sunday and getting a table worked on a honor system of who was next. Staff seemed to be spread a bit thin but were friendly when helping! Food was actually noticeably better than anticipated, hash browns were great and best waffle is a pecan + chocolate chip.

I ordered the All-American meal so I could taste most of what the restaurant offered, as it was my first time visiting a Waffle House. The food was good overall: well- cooked with simple preparation as expected. I ordered the blueberry waffle instead of the plain one and was disappointed to find that there were no blueberries, but rather a blue- colored blueberry- flavored additive. It tasted OK, but wasn't what I was expecting. The menus don't give descriptions, so I had no way of knowing. Service was quick and friendly, but our orders were repeatedly mixed up or wrong when delivered to us. The server maintained a great attitude throughout, even when faced with several mistakes.

On our first visit to a Waffle House Restaurant, I ordered the Texas patty melt with hash fries for lunch. The burger reminded me of one that I used to order at Friendly's Restaurant before they closed in Syracuse, New York. It was enjoyable, and the crispy hash fries tasted good with a little salt and ketchup. My wife ordered a bowl of chili which she said was just the kind she liked. The place was crowded, but the wait staff were attentive and efficient. UPDATE-1: I ordered the Texas patty melt again on my second visit. I wished the bread have been toasted more, but the hash browns were crispy and just as enjoyable as the first time.

We’ve been waiting a long time to go to this Waffle House. Let me tell you, it was well worth the wait. Our server, June, was superb. Everyone there was polite and friendly. The restaurant was clean and food was great. One of the best Waffle Houses we have ever been to.

When I walked in in the middle of the night someone was cleaning the floors so the smell was refreshing. Headed straight to the bathroom and it was the cleanest Waffle house bathroom I ever saw. Ordered some food and everyone was so nice including the chef. The food was to go and it was really good. I tipped them even though they had the "take out" fee included. I will definitely come to this location every time I travel near there.

Waffles house never fails. Did not mind the wait, it happens when it's busy. The food was worth the wait. Service was friendly and impressive behind the bar. The breakfast hit the spot, will stop by again when in the area.
